Born 30 April 1957 in Ljubljana where he still lives and works. Studied composition under A.Srebotnjak at the Ljubljana Academy of  Music graduating in 1980.He then studied conducting under Anton Nanut, graduating in 1986. In 1988 he re-graduated in composition from the Vienna College of Music, where he studied under Prof. F.Burt, and in 1989 completed his postgraduate studies in harmony, also in Vienna. He began his career in Vienna and Ljubljana as a freelance musician and then began work as a part-time teacher at the Ljubljana Secondary School of Music and Ballet and the Academy of Music. Since 1995 he has been a full-time university teacher. Mihevc’s skill as a composer first became apparent with his children’s opera  Aladdin and his magic lamp (1981). His chamber works include Fleeting shadows for 6 flutes and 6 violins (1984), Papricapriccio No. 1 for violin and piano (1986), Lacus somniorum for violin and piano (1989), Violin concerto (1982) and Piano concerto (1991). His most recent postmodern compositions include Equii (1991), In signo tauri (1992) and Miracula 1993).
