Born in Saalfelden/Salzburg (A) on 1953. He studied double bass, piano, composition and pre-polyphonic music at Venice Conservatory with Giulio Orru, Antonia Pais, Giuseppe Sinopoli and Maria Ernetti. In Los Angeles he studied film score composition under the tutelage of Thomas Birne McKernan. In 1975 he won the international "A.Webern" competition organized by La Biennale Musica in Venice. In 1979 he received another invitation from the Biennale, this time to take part to "Opera prima" festival. In 1982 he was asked to give a series of  lectures and present some of his compositions at the Schönberg Institute in Los Angeles. He has also taken part in numerous music events, concerts and festivals in Trento, Pisa, Rome, Venice, London, Los Angeles. He has received commissions from the Kronos Quartet (San Francisco), the Contempo Ensemble (Venice,Italy) and the Repoman Film Studio (Venice, California). He has recorded for RAI Radiotelevisione Italiana, the BBC and EdiPan (Rome), His works are published by Pizzicato, Neopoiesis and EdiPan. In 1979 he founded a chamber ensemble, the Quartono Ensemble, with which he continues to carry out intensive experimental works; together with the ensemble he has performed concerts in Italy and abroad.
