Description

Fabio Serafini starts his studies in Double Bass (Contrabass) and Composition at the Conservatory “J. Tomadini” in Udine and then takes his diploma in Double Bass (Contrabass) at the Conservatory “A. Steffani” in Castelfranco Veneto. He has collaborated with many orchestras, among which: “I Pomeriggi Musicali di Milano” (1° Double Bass), the “Regionale Toscana”, the “Haydn” of Bolzano, the “Internazionale d'Italia”(1° Double Bass), the “Filarmonica di Torino”, the “Cantelli” of Milan, the “Orchestra di Bergamo e Brescia”, the “Salieri” of Szeged (Ungheria). For over fifteen years he has had the role of 1° Double Bass with the Simphony Orchestra of Friuli Venezia Giulia. He has played in many countries of the European Union, in the former USSR, in Brazil, Malay and China. He has performed concert activity as a soloist with the Orchestra “Grazer Streichorchester” (Austria) performing the concert of Erik Larsson, with the “Orchestra Internazionale d’Italia” in the “Gran duo Concertante” for Violin and Double Bass by Giovanni Bottesini and with the “Orchestra Filarmonica” of Udine with the Air “Per questa bella mano” by Mozart. Besides he has performed many duo recitals with piano, harp and harpsichord. In 1989 he is one of the founders of “Mikrokosmos - Insieme Strumentale  Italiano” and with this ensemble he plays the most important chamber repertoire dedicated to his instrument. As regards Composition, in 2005, together with Daniela Terranova, he won the second prize at the international competition dedicated to Gianni Rodari “Musica e Fiaba” in Sarzana and the first prize at the international competition “Suoni di Fiaba” in Vittorio Veneto with “11 Storie Zen”. He has published for the editors “Bongiovanni”, “Berben” and “Pizzicato”. He was a Double Bass teacher at the Conservatories of  Adria, Trieste, Novara, Pesaro and Udine and, at the moment, he is teaching at the Conservatory “A. Pedrollo” in Vicenza.
