Roberto Antonello is the winner of the 2nd Interpretation Prize at the 17th International Organ Competition “Grand Prix de Chartres 2000”, prestigious and longed for event where no Italian player was awarded nor entered the final round in its 32 years history. Born in 1967, his origin is in the area near Padova, but he has been living near Treviso (North Italy) since some years. In 1990, he graduated in Organ and Organ Composition at the National Conservatory in Castelfranco Veneto (near Treviso) with full marks and prize with A. Aroma, and later, in Choral Music and Choir Conducting. In 1992 he got full marks at Bologna University. He also attended the National Conservatory “Niedermeyr” in Issy-les-Moulineaux (France) studying with Daniel Roth, who allowed him to get a “Premier Prix d’Excellence en Supérieur d’Interpretation” in 1993. He enriched his training attending many interpretation master classes in Italy and abroad, with K. Schmorr, M. Radulescu, H. Vogel, H. Davidsson, M. Chapuis, M. Torrent, P. Westerbrink, G. Bovet, J. Boyer, P. Klee. He took part in International Organ Competitions and he got many prizes and revognitions, among them: a 3rd prize in 1987 and a 1st prize in 1989 at the International Competition “Alpe Adria” in Gorizia, a 2nd prize at the National Competition in Noale in 1991, a 2nd prize (1st not awarded) at the Concours Suisse (International) d’Orgue in Brig in 1998. In 1994, he has been among the few winners of the National Competition for Organ Teacher in the National Italian Conservatory, after which he was appointed, in the same year, titular teacher for Organ and Organ Composition first in Avellino Conservatory, now in Vicenza. He played, as soloist or in group, in important festivals and music seasons in many Italian cities and abroad, getting good appreciations by the public and music critics. He has been broadcasted and be recorded in CD some pieces of the German Romanticism for the label Divox. His last recording is devoted to C.Franck’s Organ Works. He gave seminars and lessons about the alternation practice, the French Classical and French Romantic and Late Romantic repertoires for some Italian Conservatories and music associations. Beside teaching and concerts, since the last few years he has been composing for different instruments, arranging-elaborating pieces of different kind and doing some musicological researches. In 1996 he has been invited as a paper referent within the International Organ Academy at the School of Music and Musicology – Göteborg University (Sweden) dealing with “Registration in C.Franck’s Organ Works). Since 1998, in cooperation with Luis Szaran he has been editing the only printed critic editions (published by Pizzicato) of the Vespri di S. Ignazio and the Misa a San Ignacio by D. Zipoli (coming from the Jesuit Missions in South America in the 18th century) for soloist, choir, instruments and organ. He last published work is a collection of unknown keyboard pieces Principia seu Elementa ad Bene Pulsandum Organum et Cimbalum by D. Zipoli and other composers coming from the same countries (published by Ed. Missions Prokur Nürnberg – Armelin). His work in the South-American baroque music, gives new repertory to the Domenico Zipoli Ensemble.
