Description

Andrea Falconieri (1585 – 1656), “Neapolitan” as he wrote in the title of his book of villanelle and in various documents of the time. In 1639 was employed as “musico di tiorba e arciliuto nella Real Cappella” and then “Maestro di cappella” in Naples. He is the author of the sacred and profane vocal music and of a collection of instrumental music “Il primo libro di canzoni, sinfonie, capricci …… per violini e viole over altro stromento a una e due voci con il basso continuo”, which is unique in the history of Neapolitan music of the 17th century.
